Everest Miles Contractors In Crisis and Veriforce still not acting

After being implicated in attacks on residents and following formal notification to the accreditation owner, Everest Miles Contractors no longer appears to hold SMAS (Worksafe) health & safety accreditation. They are part of a growing scandal which led to sudden departure of Natwest Chief Risk Officer.

SMAS, commonly referred to as SMAS Worksafe, operates as part of The Citation Group, having been acquired and integrated into Citation’s wider compliance and business services portfolio while continuing to trade under the SMAS name.

The removal of SMAS accreditation follows the Citation Group being informed of Everest Miles Contractors’ activities involving residents.

Health & safety accreditations such as SMAS are intended to act as trust signals to clients, managing agents, insurers, and residents, indicating that a contractor meets baseline standards for safe and responsible operation. Loss of such accreditation is therefore a material development, particularly in residential contexts where vulnerable parties may be affected.

At the time of writing, Everest Miles Contractors’ website no longer displays SMAS / Worksafe accreditation, despite previously doing so. No public explanation has been issued by the company regarding the removal.

Following the publication of an image showing an Everest Miles Contractors van leaving the scene of an attack on a resident…

…the company appears to have taken steps to mitigate reputational damage, including operating vehicles with different external designs and branding. Despite these developments, Oakley Property continues to deploy Everest Miles Contractors in high-trust roles within occupied residential buildings (including the building from the above attacks).

Veriforce Not Acting

While Everest Miles Contractors no longer appears to hold SMAS (Worksafe) accreditation following notification to The Citation Group, the company does still retain CHAS accreditation, despite Veriforce having been informed of the situation many months ago.

We ask Veriforce CFO Sherri Russell (see below) publicly – why?

Further Accreditation

Everest Miles Contractors also continues to hold SafeContractor and Constructionline accreditation. Both schemes are being notified today. Alcumus SafeContractor will be contacted via safecontractormembership@alcumus.com and info@alcumus.com, with notice directed to Tim Jackson, who holds senior financial and governance responsibility within the Alcumus group. Constructionline will be contacted via support@constructionline.co.uk, with notice directed to the organisation’s senior financial leadership. These notifications will place both accreditation bodies on formal notice of the conduct concerns, the loss of SMAS (Worksafe) accreditation following notification to The Citation Group, and the continued deployment of the contractor in high-trust roles within occupied residential buildings.

Update 13 Feb

Everest Page now has two entries and wayback machine is (cleared?) back to 2024: We guess the story will be – we never had SMAS and always showed both levels of CHAS because they upgraded or similar etc

This would be more believable if they:

  • Didn’t ignore all indemnity insurance requests for over a year.
  • Refuse to reply to any emails.
  • Oakley Property/Directors who hires them hadnt given up on 15k (and rising) of charge charge from attacked resident and never got past phase 1 service charge recovery to likely avoid court against backdrop of this.
  • Maybe CHAS/Veriforce (Parent company)/Alcumus etc will ask them to send an email to them and us at info@propertycorruption.com explaining why no emails or indemnity insurance. You’d think this would be minimal due diligence after such serious allegations. To be helpful in this situation, we request Everest Miles does this by end of 17 Feb 2026, If they don’t fulfil this request – CHAS/Veriforce/Alcumus etc will have to decide whether this is a deal breaker for them (or attempted to reframe in disingenuous way eg “we don’t investigate”, Also Apex can make similar decision (see below):
  • We are also in contact with Apex partners who funds Veriforce and have added this article for accountability and will copy them in on all future communications.
